I used to take your presence for granted until I joined a survival training camp a couple of years ago. I realized how alone I was.
Why do I love you? You make me feel safe. When you’re with me, I’m not afraid to walk in the park, to go out at night, nor be in a threatening situation. With you by my side, I’m confident that the one who tries to hurt me will surely regret it. You’re my secret weapon.
You’re low maintenance. I don’t have to check on you daily. A good housekeeping session with you every two weeks or so is enough! Even when I abuse you sometimes, it takes no time for you to recover and go back to normal.
You help me with the mundane things in my life, to surviving in the jungle. You help me cut the straw ropes from the grocery boxes, start fires, build shelters, and slice food.
You complement my activities. You’re a huge plus to my being a first aider. With you, I know I’ll always be able to make bandages and have help when sterilizing or cauterizing.
You give me options. Whether I’m in the kitchen or outdoors, and for every single activity that I have, there is always a version of you that I can work with.
Many thought that my love was unconventional but I didn’t mind the criticism.
I used to take your presence for granted until I joined a survival training camp a couple of years ago. I realized how alone I was. It was at that moment when I decided to search for you.
The search was long and arduous. You made it hard for me to choose. I went online and to different shops only to realize that there were so many options available with each one having sub categories: combat, cooking, and survival. It was tough but I finally decided that surviving with you was the most important to me.
I thought it would be easier after that, but then I had to decide on your length--2” to 9”--your blade, full tang or folding, and your type of metal--copper, bronze, iron or steel. Let’s not even talk about your blade patterns and handles. My plan to stick to just one quickly went down the drain and I’m sure you understand why. I really felt that Cold Steel, Damascus, Gerber, Kershaw, MTech, Smith & Wesson, Sog, and many more, were also speaking to my heart.
You are only dangerous when the wielder is, and I'd like to assure you, I am not.
Many thought that my love was unconventional but I didn’t mind the criticism. Now with so many of you in my home, you make it easy for me to camp, hike, hunt, walk by myself, participate in survival camps, join rescue missions, and you’re my plus 1 in Krav Maga. You’ve made me stronger by being in my life. You are only dangerous when the wielder is, and I'd like to assure you, I am not.
I may not be a Tomb Raider, but I think I’m on my way to being Mrs. Smith.
Love,
Lee
